Corn, Popcorn

With popcorns, a small amount of moisture is contained in each kernel, and as the kernels are heated (air popper, microwave, etc.) that moisture expands rapidly, causing the kernel to 'pop'. To ensure proper popping, harvest ears when stalks and leaves are completely dried, and kernels are hard. Allow ears to cure for several weeks in a dry, well-ventilated area. Once properly dried, the kernels can be stripped and stored in a sealed container. Plant at least 4 rows of seed when soil temperatures have reached 55-65°F. Feed with a high nitrogen fertilizer after established.
