Onions

As soon as the soil can be worked, sow directly into the garden. Sow thinly 1/4' deep, in rows 12" apart. May be started indoors 8 weeks before the last hard frost. Allow ten days for germination. When the plants are 1/8" in diameter they are ready for transplanting into the garden, space plants 4" apart. One packet contains approximately 250 seeds; however, started indoors a packet will yield transplants for 50'.
